We have an excellent opportunity for a Director, Research Administration in our National Center office in Dallas, TX.

The Director, Research Administration will assist with directing the implementation of the AHA Research Enterprise ensuring that it remains in the forefront in the health, non-profit research field both conceptually and with respect to implementation practices. Plans, directs, budgets, implements and controls the administration of programs serving the AHA research enterprise by direct management of the national and affiliate research programs which includes all aspects of research program promotions, application, peer review and award processes.

Major Responsibilities Include:

  1. Direct, manage, and develop staff to meet department and AHA goals.
  2. Manage existing departmental revenue sources and explore and identify new revenue source.
  3. Manage overall departmental budget to ensure revenue goals are met or exceeded.
  4. Manage and direct volunteers, including but not limited to inspriing change and strategic direction, recruitment, communication, succession planning, etc.
  5. Strategic planning for OSO in conjunction with the SVP of OSO to drive the mission of the AHA.
  6. Continuously strive to establish OSO as a leader within AHA, including but not limited to Heartwalk participation, Employee Giving participation, Climate Survey participatoin, and so on.
  7. Ensure department maintains excellent customer service satisfaction levels, as measured by surveys, focus groups, etc.
  8. Directs the development of AHA research policies, procedures, and practices to ensure compliance with established standards.
  9. Oversees the development and implementation of the association-wide research program program through the evaluation framework and metrics.
  10. Directs strategic projects that ensure the attainment of the Research goals, enhances research operations/administration.
Required Experience
  1. Bachelor's degree in business administration, science or related field, or equivalent experience and education.
  2. At least eight years experience involving research administration.
  3. Knowledge of principles of research administration.
  4. Demonstrated ability in management, administration.
  5. Demonstrated ability in planning, budgeting, assigning, directing, coordinating and reviewing work.
  6. Experience in strategic planning.
  7. Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
  8. Understanding of and experience in applying the principles and practices of statistical analysis, program evaluation, automated systems development projects, data analysis and data management.
  9. Experience with PC office automation tools, including the advanced features of MS Office Professional Suite
  10. Ability to travel throughout the United States approximately 20% of the time, including occasional nights and weekends.
